I’m not sure of the old price differential, but checking out the new Finecast prices was interesting.
10.50 for an Eldar Shadowseer in the UK, but $18.25 (+sales tax) in the US.
Given the current exchange rate – which GW obviously can’t ride like a rollercoaster – of 1.64 quid to $1, where it was for years and years, that 10.50 should be 17.22.
So US customers have a $1.03 +sales tax bump. I’m not sure if that was the case with the metal minis, but since I’m such a big fan of plastics, I don’t really care. Metal was for chumps anyway.
I haven’t bought a finecast model yet, but I will. Nobody likes price bumps, especially multiple ones, but I don’t think the price of the model has exceeded its value. And the Finecast price is still reflective of a company hoping for a deft ROI, which they’ll probably do because we’re dorks who like our finely crafted dork toys and have the money to afford it.
