Well, that de-escalated quickly…
SWTOR will go free to play to level 50 some time later this year. This is good news for me. I liked the game, but wasn’t going to get stuck playing umpty-dollars a month to play. I’m actually eager to get back in. What is going to happen to my cocky smuggler? My earnest Jedi knight? What about my morally conflicted Jedi Consular? I want to finish their stories, they were good!
So does this mean the MMO model is dead and people will put the same effort into making regular off-the-shelf, 40-80 hour games? Will it mean they won’t cringe when they have to go up against WoW updates? Have people lost faith in the MMO model?
