DCC Dark Tower Recap #22

The party did not get far but oh boy did a lot happen. After defeating Xor, which after his brutal takedown of Calvert and Poundfoolish happened quick. Nicklas the Guizard cast what the record will show is his most lethal spell- Sleep. Or as Jim says it “Sleeeeeeepuh.” Xor the Evil One was this humanely put down by the Cure, the long sword who in this case is the real character Rolland is playing.

The party then proceeded to do the only sensible thing they could do, which was loot the room. Duh. A fortune in silver and gold was found. As well as some mysterious vials. The party hastened rest up since since random fuckery is part and parcel of this megadungeon. Watch was taken, and an exhausted party took a rest. When Nick laid his weary, oddly-shaped head down he fell quickly to sleep. And once asleep, he found himself amongst the smoke of a riff-filled land.

Siznarroz the Vorpal One, the High Mage of the Dragonaut, Chronicler of the Sinsemillian, appeared to Nick in an astral state. The Vorpal One granted Nick the privilege of serving him as his patron. Upon accepting, he received new spells. The spells were Invoke Patron and a randomly assigned 2nd level spell, which resulted in Locate Object.

The second watch was interrupted by minotaurs. Three of them. And the fight that ensued was not pretty. It had a fairly epic start when Nick invoked the Vorpal One and asked him to give him his sight back. His roll was strong- a 24 and thus his risky gambit of invoking the guy who just visited him seconds later worked. It worked so well he grew an eye in the middle of his forehead. In DCC, that counts as success for a wizard.

The new eye does not look like the other two eyes. And while it will sync with the other two eyes, sometimes it looks elsewhere. The eye is slightly larger than the other eyes and is very bloodshot. The iris is a smoky green-grey with slight streaks of red. The pupil is always a little dilated. Its purpose is unclear and appears to act completely independently of Nick. But good news, he can see with the other two, perfectly mundane eyes.

The fight from there was brutal. 3D managed to deliver killing blows to two of the minotaurs. Unfortunately for Rufo, who was so pleased to finally get a cut, was himself cut down. And that is where we left the action. One savagely wounded minotaur to go, and a party down its only NPC.
